El Fuerte

& Hotel Pasado Del Hidalgo

Historic Richness of a
Colonial Town

The picturesque colonial town of El Fuerte is where we board El Chepe, but it is also a destination in its own right. Founded in 1564, El Fuerte (“the fort”) is famous for being the birthplace of Señor Diego de la Vega, the legend of Zorro. El Fuerte has been named a Pueblo Màgico (magical town) by the Mexican Government because of the plaza’s beautifully preserved colonial architecture, and festive, romantic atmosphere. El Fuerte is on the river, and is rich in history. Many S&S Tours include a river float, a visit to ancient petroglyphs nearby, and historic walking tours, all in and around El Fuerte.

Hotel Posada Del Hildago: Legendary Beauty

Hotel Posada Del Hildalgo is arguably one of the most beautiful properties in all of Mexico. This property was the original estate of Señor Diego de la Vega, who is said to have become the legendary hero Zorro. The hotel features unique rooms with a beautiful courtyard full of tropical vegetation, a swimming pool, and a hydrotherapy pool, and it is well known for its superb cuisine. The charming Zorro makes an appearance at 6:00 each evening at the happy hour!
